Round up of the year

23rd November 2017

Christmas is fast approaching so lets look back at what we have been doing.

The group have had a great year getting involved in all the activities.

The drama group had a production at the Edge Theatre in Chorlton in the summer and are now rehearsing for another one in the New Year.

We have been fishing at the Bolton fisheries with Andy Ormrod, the small group that went had a fantastic time and caught some huge fish….honest!

The self-awareness training with EVADE blackbelt school in Glossop is still a firm favourite and starts again in the New Year.

Venture Arts have been coming in and the group have made pottery plates knives and forks and of course the odd Christmas decoration.

We have attended Manchester Peoples First birthday party – 25 years old now.  It was a great party at St kents in Chorlton with lots of dancing and a nice buffet.

We hosted our annual Macmillan coffee morning and raised over £200 for them.

We have been out for

  • Pub lunches,
  • Played the odd game of pool in one of the local pubs,
  • Bowling at Ashton Super bowl and
  • Trips to the Print Works to watch the latest releases.

We hosted afternoon tea for parents and carers so they could meet the trustees and staff; we will repeat this next year as it was nice for people to be able to sit down and chat.

We have had the Challenge working with the group and they have produced a short film about The Shaw Centre.

The JTI volunteers have hosted quizzes as well as an excellent Easter Egg hunt.  All the eggs were donated by the JTI sales team.

We have been working on garden with Collette and the flowers were lovely in the summer.  We have a program for next year to help us keep on top of it.

Next year is set to be another good one so keep your eyes on our Facebook page for updates of what we are going to do as well as photos of what we have done.
