Corona diaries June 15th 20

15th June 2020

This week  15th – 21st June is learning disability week.

The theme of the week is the importance of friendships during lock-down.

Due to the corona-virus pandemic, we have all been living in lock down. This means that many people with a learning disability are feeling isolated, as they have been unable to see their friends and families.

We know that people with a learning disability already experience high levels of loneliness and social isolation and that this will only have been made worse by the lock-down.

During lock-down we have delivered electronic tablets, craft items and an occasional sweet treat – this helped people to feel less isolated. We keep in touch on Zoom every weekday.

We will be continuing to support the people that use The Shaw centre with our usual activities take a look at our Facebook page for more information on the activities that we provide.

If you are feeling lonely and would like to chat, drop us a message – maybe you could join in with one of our zoom chats and meet some new friends.
