Update September 2020 -

4th September 2020

We are pleased to say that we have now reopened!

It’s been a long process but from next week we will be open for 5 days a week.

We reopened to bubble one on 13th July (Mondays and Tuesday only)

Some of our group members were a little nervous at first but we made feel relaxed and at home. By day 2 it felt like we’d never been away!

On July 29th we introduced bubble two (Wednesdays and Thursdays only) again some of our group members were a little nervous but soon settled in.

Next week we will be open for five days a week; there is still no bubble mixing the Friday will be alternated between bubble one and two.

We still offer lots of activities such as bingo, gardening, pool, board games, wii, iPad, laptops, group games, creative writing, sing along – the list is endless.

All social distancing measures are still in place, staff wear PPE and each group member has their own table, chair, hand sanitiser, bin with a lid, tissues, stationary box with pens, paper, glue, scissors etc. We have a one way system in our main room and extra hand sanitisers dotted around the building. We also have a dedicated cleaner who cleans restrooms after each use, disinfects touch points at regular intervals and generally keeps on top of all of our cleaning.

We have lunch in two separate sittings so that the kitchen is not overcrowded and the tables and chairs are disinfected after each sitting.

We are not having any additional visitors in the building as yet, including volunteers and the staff that facilitate zumba, singing, etc. but do see them online as we still offer a virtual service too.

Technology has been great throughout Covid 19 as it has allowed us to keep in contact and support our group members, parents, carers and staff.

We shared virtual tours, held staff meetings, hosted family quizzes and we even had our very own virtual pub for a while. The list could go on!

We delivered electronic tablets to the group member that didn’t already have one so that they could meet us online, We delivered craft products, bingo boards, puzzles etc to each and everyone of our members to help keep them busy during lock down.

It has been a tough journey but the new normal is going well – We are looking forward to the centre being open five days a week but we will continue to support virtually too. If you know somebody who may benefit from our virtual service please get in touch with us for more information.
